Vol. 1 EP Artwork by Camilla Martineli

Philly-based emcee, producer, and multi-media artist MH the Verb returns with his ArtHouse95 crew for the new single "Good Morning." Boasting the crew's signature thick, dusty drums and smooth, jazz/soul samples, the song serves as the lead single to the group's forthcoming Vol. 1 EP, the follow-up to April's three-song sampler Owl.

I produced [‘Good Morning’] featuring live bass from engineer Dave Humes and layered drums... [Drusef, Mic Stew, and I] wrote the song during a cloudy studio session a couple years ago while reflecting on our daily grind and ambition as artists. The homie, Kuf Knotz makes a guest appearance at the end. Overall, when the beat drops after the intro, you can feel the energy build... I just can’t wait for people to hear what comes next.

Electric Wire Hustle Shares New Single 'Go Slow' On Mass Appeal

The sensational electro-soul outfit of New Zealand known as Electric Wire Hustle returns with its lush new single "Go Slow." Inspired by a studio session with Just Blaze, the song serves as the lead single for the group's long-awaited, forthcoming third album The 11th Sky, set for release September 30th via Bastard Jazz Recordings (World) and Loop (NZ, Australia and Japan).

This song got its start in a session we did with Just Blaze at his studio in Harlem. Him and Young Guru had made the most amazing midi library by sampling keyboard after keyboard, playing it all themselves. He wrote his parts with what are absolutely real instruments, but using midi so that everything is changeable at any point. Well, little ol’ country bumpkin Mara TK here felt like a noble savage given an audience with The King - and shown all types of new technology, wizardry and good food. Later on and back here in New Zealand, one of the illest producers from NZ - an indie genius named James Duncan - sends me a bunch of demos to sing over for his own project. One of these songs has what I would describe as the perfect spine snapping kick and snare; meticulously recorded, microphones setup perfect - but played in a raw way that gave no fucks whatsoever: Skins broke, mics fell over, drinks knocked back... Anyway I begged him to let me use this kick and snare sound for ‘Go Slow’ as well as his diabolically loud guitar sound which you will hear pleasantly screaming in the background...

MORE ABOUT THE 11th SKY:

Set for release on Friday, September 30th, The 11th Sky expands on Electric Wire Hustle's psychedelic-soul sound and continues the surreal storytelling of last year's Aeons EP, which also featured Kimbra and Deva Mahal on vocals. The brand new album is described as “David Lynch meets Motown” by frontman and producer Mara TK. The otherworldly is present within EWH’s layered electronic production and Mara’s soaring vocals with tracks like “Go Slow” that walk into the genre-fog amidst drum machines and synthesizers. Meanwhile, “I Light A Candle,” with its piano, chopped vocal samples, towering strings and 808s, strikes right at the heart of soul music.

The 11th Sky will serve as the full-length follow-up to Electric Wire Hustle’s critically acclaimed  Love Can Prevail album, which was hailed by The New York Times, BBC Radio and Wax Poetics. The project won “Best Electronic Album” at the New Zealand Music Awards, continuing a track record of critical acclaim that began with the band's self-titled debut album.

Mark Steele Shares Official Video For "Real One" On HipHopDX

Fresh off the momentum from the placement of his triumphant hit "Greatness" for ESPN's SportsCenter, Durham, North Carolina MC Mark Steele returns with the Dorsey Wesley Jr.-directed music video for "Real One," the lead single from his forthcoming album Almost Time.

I didn’t invent the term Real One. It’s something we say amongst ourselves in the culture when describing an individual of extreme genuineness and/or loyalty. My objective was to shed some light on term as an opportunity to collectively celebrate those who meet the criteria, whether alive or deceased. Spread love for a Real One.

Quan Remembers Tamir Rice In New Video Feat. Pusha T via Billboard.com

Many people around the world were deeply affected by the tragedy of Tamir Rice, the 12-year-old Cleveland boy who was fatally shot by police in 2014 after cops mistook his toy gun for a real weapon. But for Quan, a father who once lost his own son, the story hit a bit closer to home.

The official Chip Stackin’-directed video for his poignant Pusha T-assisted cut "All On Him" recounts the tragic story with a different ending.

The concept I chose for this video was the Tamir Rice tragedy, because I can’t fully understand why those cops shot that baby. However, in my video he lives instead of dies. We were able to save him. The same way God saved us many times over. The key to the change is peace, great music and God. ‘Cause it’s all on Him. My friend Max profit who plays one of the police officers, was killed during the shooting of this video. That kid [at the end of the video with his hands up] is my son, an angel.

Eli Fola Shares New Audio/Visual Ode To Jeff Mills, 'The Healer,' On IMPOSE

Nigerian born/bred DJ, producer, vocalist, and saxophonist Eli Fola has forged an incredible mix of experimental Jazz, AfroBeat, Electronic and Deep House during his now seven year stint as a Brooklynite. The unique sound he calls 'Tech Afrique,' which is also the same name of his newly launched label, serves as the foundation for Eli's debut EP The Platform (out now on SpotifyiTunes, etc.).

"The Healer" is the fourth track on the project, but the third of what is to be a seven part video series of each song from The Platform.

The video was made by a French artist named Maxime Hacquard, I saw his work through Instagram and reached out to him to make my video, so the creation of the video was basically done online, I never met him before. I just gave him my ideas, and we work like that. ‘The Healer’ [track] was inspired by one of my favorite Techno DJ/Producer Jeff Mills from Detroit. I have been following his work for a while now. While working on my EP I wanted to make a sound that is very futuristic and somewhat different from the rest of the tracks and I think ‘The Healer’ is a perfect example of that.
